James Woolf started writing short stories in 2013, since when many have been published, including three in Ambit. He researched and wrote the first draft of his first novel, Three Steps Behind,in 32 weeks whilst working full time. He wouldn’t necessarily recommend this as a methodology! He is currently working on his second novel.
Before writing fiction, James had around a dozen plays produced in various venues, and two broadcast on the radio, including one with Bill Nighy. He has also worked as a writer in residence in a young offenders institution.
James lives in North London with his partner and two teenage daughters.
